NEW for 2010 Index to: Caithness in the C18th by John E. Donaldson Published by the Moray Press, Edinburgh 1938 Caithness in the 18th century by John E. Donaldson is, like Calder’s History of Caithness, a book which contains a wealth of information on the County and should be in the collection of every person truly interested in the history and culture of the Far North of Scotland. Centred around the Sinclair family of Mey, the author brings to life the social history of Caithness through the collection of papers and letters available to him (those of the Estate of Mey), as well as most published sources dealing with the area at the time. This index makes using the book for research purposes a simple procedure. As the book is dense in names and subjects, the index is also detailed, hopefully bringing together items of interest to the reader, and allowing him or her to dip into the book in a more ordered fashion. I have also indexed the footnotes of the book – something not often done Available exclusively as a PDF document for a limited period this document is available for only £8 E-mail me directly, payment by Paypal only please 61 pages ************************************************************** |
